       GZU STUDENTS RESIST MALE CIRCUMCISION


Great Zimbabwe University students are resisting male circumcision services offered  at Gaths mine hospital ,as they say the  process is painful

In a recent interview with the District manager for Male circumcision Masvingo Province, Henry Chabvepi he acknowledged, the male circumcision programme is free for everyone even those who resides  Gathsmine community.


He added that the Sabhuku Vharazip road show campaign for circumcision which was held at GZU Mashava Campus was meant to encourage students  to get circumcised,as they are vulnerable to contracting HIV/AIDS due to unprotected  sexual activities. 

‘Students are more vulnerable to HIV/AIDS but they take this programme for granted because they the fear to abstain waiting for the wound to heal “ said Henry Chabvepi

Speaking to one of the students, Prosper Kutyauripo he said ,male students  do not like circumcision because it  only guarantees 60% protection ,so they cannot risk  the painful process despite the advantages levelled to it
.
“On behalf of my colleagues, we are resisting circumcision because it is does not give 100% safety so we can not risk ourselves to such a painful practice.’ he said.
