MDC-T to boycott elections

Masvingo-The Movement for Democratic Change President Morgan Tsvangirai has urged his followers not to vote in the upcoming elections at a rally recently held at Mucheke ground B under the theme “No reforms No election’’

Speaking to Masvingo residents who attended the rally, Tsvangirai said they must not take part in elections until reforms were made by the government saying elections must be free and fair to create a conducive voting environment.

He went on to say the media should be liberal to ensure an equal coverage of all parties campaigning for elections.

‘’The media should be liberated so that every citizen will have access to information and all parties should be covered by the media’’ Tsvangirai has said.

The MDC Masvingo provincial Secretary General Douglas Mwonzora criticised the government’s way of handling elections saying votes should be counted by other countries and not soldiers, CIO Boarder Gez to make a difference in Zimbabwe through a ballot.

‘As MDC we want to take power through the ballot because the conditions of free and election are not there”he added.

The Zimbabwe National Students UNION (ZINASU) Secretary General also said reforms should be made to make a change in Zimbabwe.

He added that thousands are graduating every year, but jobs are scarce in Zimbabwe, graduates are selling airtime after they have attained a degree.

“It is so painful that graduates are selling airtime in the streets because they have no employment and yet many people are graduating every year. We need reforms.” he said.
